There are numerous Maasai Mara travel packages to choose from. This depends on whether you choose to travel in the air in a hot air balloon or go on a safari to see the animals. Regardless of what you decide, you will leave the Maasai Mara with unforgettable experiences.
Planning Your Trip: Practical Information for Visiting Maasai Mara
Due of the numerous alternatives for organizing a trip, planning a trip to Maasai Mara might be difficult at times. You must cover everything from determining the optimum time to travel to planning activities and reserving hotels and flights.
We’ll walk you through the process step by step to provide you the finest advice for organizing your Maasai Mara safari.
Choosing the Best Time to Visit Maasai Mara
The visitors can enjoy safaris at Maasai Mara National Reserve all year. The weather pattern is consistent, and there is an abundance of wildlife for superb game viewing all year.
Many safari fans base their visit to the Maasai Mara game reserve on the timing of the wildebeest migration. This massive migration often begins in July and peaks in August. The migration will conclude in September.
August is the greatest month to visit because it is the peak of the wildebeest migration.
What to pack on a safari trip to Kenya.
If you are not a Kenyan citizen, you need to carry your passport. Your passport should also be valid for six months from the intended date of departure from Kenya.
You will also be required to show your medication vaccination certificates at the airport.
Remember to bring your credit cards and plenty of insurance paperwork.
What to wear on a safari trip
The most suitable clothes to wear on a safari experience should be casual and not too tight. Avoid bulky clothing and go for lightweight options. These will assist you in remaining comfy on your journey.
A light jacket is essential for the cool early mornings and evenings for game drives.
Bring a single outfit of elegant but simple dinner clothing if you’re staying at a 5-star camp or resort. These clothing are also useful for nights in Nairobi or along the Mombasa coast.
Climbing boots are also useful to have, but not necessary if you do not want to hike throughout your trip.
Open shoes, sandals, and flip-flops are extremely beneficial around the pool or for in-room use.
We recommend that you carry a high-SPF sunscreen lotion and a wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun off your face and neck. Sunglasses are strongly advised.
Make sure you bring a nice camera to Maasai Mara so that you can make the most of your stay there. Although some safari companies provide binoculars in their cars, these may only have rudimentary functionality, so you should bring your own pair.
You can have your laptop with you, as it allows you to save your photos of the day. If you don’t have a laptop, make sure you carry enough memory card to store your photos.
Have any medications you take with you, especially brands or medications that Kenyan pharmacies might not carry. In Nairobi, pharmacies carry a large selection of prescription drugs for basic needs.
On the off chance that you are required to demonstrate this at the airport, don’t forget to carry any remedies when you bring medication into Kenya.
Although some camps and lodges provide insect repellant, we still advise you to carry your own preferred brand.
The majority of insects are thought to respond better to repellents containing deet.
